Based on Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle, it imagines a world ruled by music and sound — originally staged in 2002, now readapted by his son Rickerby Alexander (ΛGE) for a new era using AI and VR.

From 2002 To Edinburgh 2026
A veteran playwright and theatre professor, Rickerby Hinds adapted Wagner's Ring Cycle into a hip-hop opera in 2002 — a bold fusion of operatic tradition and hip-hop culture. His libretto gave hip hop the theatrical weight it always deserved, proving that the streets and the stage speak the same language.
Rickerby's son Rickerby Alexander — known as ΛGE — is now readapting the work for 2026, expanding the original with AI-generated visuals, augmented reality, and a new musical landscape. The result is a living, breathing opera that honours its roots while pushing into entirely new territory.
